ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: JACK GIBSON
Tell us a little about yourself, what's your name? What type of creative are you and where are you based?
I’m Jack Gibson, a Manchester based photographer shooting mostly portraits and fashion.
What inspires you as a photographer?
My biggest inspiration is always the location, I don’t get excited trying to find something “cool” on pinterest. I spend a lot of time finding locations if that’s for my photography work or when working on bigger projects like a music video.
What's your favorite project to date?
This is a hard one, I shot with GEC at the end of 2019 and that was crazy. I got full control over everything (again the main inspo for this was the location) and it turned out a million times better than I had ever planned. Another big one for me is the Shango 120 series, super unplanned just trying out a new camera and really starting my film journey.
As a creative, do you do anything other than photography?
I started out as a graphic designer back in the day, I guess that kinda gives me my OCD which carries throughout my work, I don’t design too much nowadays but occasionally if the project is right I’ll get back on it.
At CBN we work on a bunch of video projects so I’m working towards being a sick DOP and pushing my camera work to the next level.
You are a part of a creative collective, could you tell us more about that?
As a creative collective CBN is more than just myself and Chris, we have a big family of creatives we work on projects with all the time – the aim with CBN was never ever a business one, all we wanted to do was work on some cool projects and put a bit of name to it. Obviously this turned into what CBN is today and we’ll continue to branch out the journey and get to meet some amazing people along the way!
What projects should we be looking out for from CBN and where can we see more of your work?
‘Just get out there, do your thing and don’t care if people like it. Art is subjective, you won’t please everyone but that’s ok! There is a lot of rejection
